Hades

Hades was the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea, although this also made him the last son to be regurgitated by his father.​

He and his brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, defeated their father's generation of gods, the Titans, and claimed rulership over the cosmos. The underworld fell by lot to Hades. There he ruled with his queen, Persephone, over the infernal powers and over the dead in what was often called “the house of Hades,” or simply Hades.

Hades was portrayed as being stern and merciless. Even in the tale of his kidnapping of Persephone, he never completely emerges as a distinct personality from the gloomy darkness of his realm.​
