About
Demeter was a very important goddess to Ancient Greeks, who farmed much of their food. Demeter is the second child of the Titans and had a daughter, Persephone, who she loved very much.​

When Hades, the King of the Underworld, abducted Persephone to make her his wife, Demeter searched everywhere to find her missing daughter. As a result, she neglected her duties and plunged Earth into a deadly famine causing mortals to die.​ To avert disaster, Zeus ordered Hades to return Persephone to her mother. However, because Persephone had eaten food from the Underworld, she could not stay with Demeter forever but had to divide the year between her mother and her husband, explaining the seasonal cycle
